In the last post, we talked about postcards and all the great reasons why we should get back to writing them (read here!). Today I want to show you how to make a DIY polaroid postcard. This cute and easy DIY will help you write the most personal postcard. Your friends and family are going to love them.
For this project, all you really need is some scissors, glue and your favorite picture that you want to send. The patterns for the polaroid style postcards you can download by subscribing to the blog at the end of the post. They were created especially for this DIY and are absolutely FREE!
Now that we have everything we need, let’s get crafting! For the first step, you will need to cut out the bottom pattern. This will be your base for the postcard. You will not need to cut out the middle square since this will be the space where your picture will be put.
The beige square in the middle of your base gives you an idea about the right size for your polaroid picture. Cut out the picture in the default shape and glue it to the base.
Now it’s time to give your polaroid picture some colors and designs. Cut out the pattern of your choice. This time, it is important that you also cut out the square in the middle to ensure that your picture shows through. Glue the frame to your bottom pattern and voilá, you crafted yourself a cute polaroid picture.
For the final step, we need to transform the back of our picture into a postcard. Draw some lines on the right side to create a space for the address. On the top right corner, you will need to place your stamp. And the rest is up to you. Get creative with it. You can write a cute little message, draw a picture or simply write down a greeting. Your postcard is now ready to be mailed.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and got a little inspired to write some postcards to your friends and family. Let me know what you think about the DIY and let’s chat in the comments.
